Reporting Welfare Fraud
Welfare Fraud committed by a social services client should be reported to the State of New York’s Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance.
Some examples of situations that could be fraudulent are:
- Unreported Income (either earned or unearned);
- Hidden Assets (bank accounts, property, etc.);
- Unreported changes in Household Composition (either someone moved into the home or moved out);
- Unreported changes in Shelter Costs, etc.
If you suspect, or have knowledge of, a social services client fraudulently receiving assistance from programs administered by the State of New York, you should report it to the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance. This includes, but is not limited to, Public Assistance and Food Stamps benefits.
