OTDA Fatherhood Initiative Participates in Summer Activities
During the month of June, OTDA participated in several events and activities held locally and nationally that served as venues to foster the image that dads make a difference.
The Parent Success Initiative (PSI)
The Parent Success Initiative (PSI), one of five fatherhood pilot programs launched its operation at the Southwest Community Center in Syracuse.
New York Public Welfare Association 138th Annual Winter Conference
The OTDA Strengthening Families through Stronger Fathers initiative distributed information at the New York Public Welfare Association 138th Annual Winter Conference. Over 600 colleagues participated in the educational and networking opportunities. There was also an array of workshops on issues of importance in social services; including child support and responsible fatherhood issues.
Responsible Fatherhood: The New Frontier of Welfare Reform Roundtable
OTDA held a follow-up roundtable discussion in New York City on December 13, 2006 at New York University, entitled "Responsible Fatherhood: The New Frontier of Welfare Reform". The roundtable brought together research and policy experts, academics, non-for-profit organizations, minority organizations, faith-based organizations and State/local agencies to discuss these complex issues.
Responsible Dad CD Event at Trinity Institution
This festive event marked the culmination of a five-month long radio outreach program by OTDA and Clear Channel Radio asking area kids and dads to submit personally performed and written songs, lyrics and poems that celebrate the joys of having or being a great dad.

Juan Williams Keynote Presentation
At the Roundtable discussion entitled Responsible Fatherhood: The New Frontier of Welfare Reform Exploring the Spectrum of Programmatic Innovations at New York University, Juan Williams addresses the issues and importance of responsible fatherhood from his personal experiences and the charge he addresses in his book, "Enough." He also addressed the state of leadership with regards to Healthy Marriages, Productive Relationships and community programs. In closing Mr. Williams spoke about, "Where we have failed as a society and how me must move forward for the health and well-being of underserved and under privileged communities."
